Certainly, we know about the wild jealousy of romantic betrayal, marked (these days) by obsessive Facebook lurking into the wee hours of the a.m. Hopefully when the better “Next!” shows up, we’ve eased off on that sad behavior; reduced it to peeking over the FB fence from time to time, to make sure the ex is still overweight and miserable.
Yeah, that’s not the kind of jealousy I mean.
This long-simmering version that I’m wanting to talk about, is envy. That’s the baked-in-the-DNA resentment of others who have more. More money, ease, beauty, love, charisma, friends, family, love, and of course, LUCK.
Growing up, as the four Battling Myers children, you would smear a sib with “You’re lucky.” That meant “You got what I wanted from mom and/or dad, only because you tricked them into loving you MORE. You FINK! You FAKE!”
The world of envy is based on scarcity. It is a planet drained of love. There’s very little trickling through this landscape and you have to compete for it. If someone is winning, you for sure are losing. There is not enough for everyone.
Scarcity screams back, “Stop asking for more. There isn’t any more. It’s all gone. Go eat some squirmy worms, why don’t you?”
The good news is, there IS an alternate universe of abundance and limitless potential. The bad news is, you are responsible for opening up to it; for speaking from your heart, and requesting MORE GOOD in your life. And that’s very scary.
“Perhaps, when you were small, you were not encouraged to ask for what YOU wanted. Sooo… That was then. This is now.”
If the thought of asking for what you truly desire leaves you weak in the legs, you likely need a healing. You need a shot of support from your angel team, to help you let go of the insecurity and unworthiness. Give it up. Let the love and light in.
Here is a 45 sec. angel prayer I created for MY ANGEL PRAYER on Alexa.
Here are some more quotes from my book, “It’s Too Late to Quit” to nudge us toward loving ourselves more and caring what others have, less. (Yes, they are pinnable!)
“When someone has the Life you want, that does not mean it’s not available to You too. Believe and KNOW ~ there is an unlimited amount of Great Stuff to manifest in your Life!”
If this idea of abundance leaves you in resentful lack, please gift yourself with my HOW TO CONNECT WITH ANGELS podcast about Angels and Abundance with Raul Estevez, M.Ed., international Educator/Trainer, Psychic and Spiritual Healer.
“When someone has the life you want, say this, “I am inspired by the success of ~~fill in blank~~ I release my feelings of scarcity and jealousy.”
My therapist Marty, whose wisdom is memorialized in my book, had a very potent approach to transforming my envy into something useful. Here’s the whole page, so you can get some background on Marty - a self-made millionaire, therapist and Panty King:
“See your ideal and make it happen!” That sounds hard! Impossible! How do we even begin to see our ideal and make it happen, when all we are used to doing, is berating ourselves for not doing enough and not being enough?
Please help yourself to these quotes from IT’S TOO LATE TO QUIT, to help you shift out some stinkin’ thinkin’ with gratitude and grace.
“When you think about all the fabulous stuff Some People possess and all of the beauty Some People embody and the bile of jealousy rises in your throat, try to remember that every single human (even George Clooney) has endured some pained and tortured days/weeks/years. It’s true.”
Yes, one of the most successful film stars of our age, married to exquisitely brilliant, goddess-like Amal and blessed with twins, George Clooney had to navigate a dark tunnel of excruciating pain after injuring his back on the set of Syriana.
“Imagine your life so amazing, that you are jealous of yourself! What does it look like? Feel like?”
That’s right. Who’s that person with amazing energy, who lights up the world with joy and happiness, who lives in such gratitude and connection with courage?
That be you.
Here are some last words to help you stay focused:
“Lessons from Yoga Class: Stay on your own mat. Don’t be sneaking a look over to your neighbor and making comparisons! It will throw you off balance.”
True, dat.
